Learn The Why Behind What You're Seeing, So You Can Think Clearly When Things Escalate
Coming Soon...
What's Inside, Every Month
Rapids are a puzzle. Your patient is always leaving you clues: their skin, their breathing, what the monitor says, what they're telling you and what you observe. Those clues are the pieces. You don't have to solve the whole puzzle on your own. You find the pieces the team needs, and we put it together.
A nurse learns to do that in four phases, one phase at a time. I call them The 4 Phases of the Rapid Response Puzzle: Recognize, Respond, Reason and Reflect. Recognize is learning what normal looks like and when something's off. Respond is learning where to put your attention once you've called for help.
Rapid Rounds w/Lefty is where we work on the last two. Reason is where you learn the why, so you start to think critically instead of just going through the motions. Reflect is where you learn to look back at how you handled it, and turn every rapid into confidence, not shame.
Here's what you get each month:
A Live Group Call
A judgment-free space to talk through anything you hit on shift. If there's a question you haven't asked because you didn't want to bother anyone, bring it here. Feeling safe to ask is the whole point of this call.
A Training Video
Rapid response skills, plus the reasoning behind clinical decisions across different scenarios, so you understand the why behind what you're seeing.
A Resource To Download
A printable checklist or guide that's yours to keep.
This Is For You If...
- You're a bedside nurse in your first 2 years.
- You feel good on a normal shift, and it's when things escalate that it gets hard to think straight.
- You've been in a rapid and found yourself going over it and over it afterward.
- You've held back a question because you didn't want to bother an experienced nurse.
- You want to be the nurse everyone counts on, and you'd rather not get there on your own.
Hey, I'm Lefty
I've been a nurse for over 20 years and I'm currently a rapid response nurse. I'm on a mission to help new nurses feel calm and capable in emergency situations.
I've been an active rapid response nurse for 6 years and I've responded to hundreds of rapids. I'm still in the hospital three 12-hour shifts a week, so this isn't theory.
Every time I show up to a rapid, I see the same thing. The experienced nurses who should have been mentoring new nurses left during the pandemic, and now it's new nurses teaching even newer nurses.
When I was a new nurse, there was always an experienced nurse within reach. Someone I could ask, who'd come help me take action. I never had to stand in a doorway alone. I want to be the person within reach that you might not have on your floor right now. That's why I'm building Rapid Rounds w/Lefty.
